Insect series 昆蟲系列
I have a small balcony garden, deep in a dense part of the city. There are many small insects in and around it, including plenty of the hated mosquito. Sometimes I get rarer visitors I usually see in the mountain forests. I don't know where they are coming from, as the nearby rivers are both buried under Anhe and Keelung roads. The nearby parks are all small and mostly paved. I began to draw them, but with huge cities growing over them, much as Taipei has grown over most of its urban rivers and forests. Some of the cities are completely imagined (Dragonfly or Hornet). Others are created from either a place in my own life (the mills of Luna Moth), or simply somewhere that inspired me (old New York and Detroit in Dragonflies).
Dragonflies was exhibited from April 21st to 25th 2016 at Art Revolution Taipei. It was a finalist in the International Artist Grand Prize.
